3 Day Mobile Field Force Squad Leader
Critical Decision Making
* Offered as an "Open" course
This course is offered as an "Open" course for those agencies who have either suffered the De-Fund movement and have had their training budget cut, or it does not make sense to host an agency specific course due to agency size.
As an open course, agencies may send one to sixteen officers to attend training that will be held in Riverside, California. MTS will suggest local hotels near the training site for traveling officers. MTS always attempts to gain room discounts for its clients.
Now that you have created your Mobile Field Force for your department, what are the responsibilities and accountability of the Mobile Field Force Squad Leaders? One of the consistent lessons learned in many incidents is the lack of specific supervisory training and leadership during times of crisis.
This course is designed for Lieutenants acting as Mobile Field Force Leaders, Sergeants as squad leaders, and senior officers/deputies who may be assigned squad leader responsibilities.
The 3 day MFF Squad Leader's course is directed exclusively to the roll of line supervisors who are directing the activities of MFF Squads. The course includes basic tactics and deployment of all aspects of a Mobile Field Force. In addition, subjects include Use of Force in crowd control, supervisor responsibility, accountability, and reporting of use of force incidents, unlawful assembly and the First Amendment, dispersal, arrest strategies, use of Less Lethal Munitions, dealing with the media, planning for an event, as well as crowds and their makeup and strategies.
The Course includes, several tactical review of critical incidents illustrating the success and failure of tactical decision making, Use of Force issues, accountability and reporting, Less Lethal Munitions issues and three progressive movement problems and a table top exercise.
The Mobile Field Force supervisor’s course includes a 150 page textbook written for this specific course and laminated field reference cards.
This course is limited to a maximum of 16 officers
